Posterous - Nothing Great

I'm more of a tweeter than a blogger. However, 140 characters are not sufficient to give a free vent. So, after about 5 years, I wanted to try my hand at blogging. I had an account with "blogspot"  (now "blogger"). I like to have a choice! Googled - read some rave reviews about Posterous. Gave it a try.

I didn't like Posterous despite super good reviews by bloggers and a good page ranking by Google. Why??? The site is chunky. It's not fluid. It took a while for the page to load (my internet speed is pretty decent!).

I find the inner pages to be tasteless. Worse still, the navigation is very confusing! I feel that the settings spread across 4 pages can be featured on a single page (of course grouped into various sections).

Features are just thrown at the user. I would like to know what they mean. At least a one-line introduction should do. Next, the template selection and customization: if not a Wizard, I expect a streamlined process to select and customize my templates. Posterous scores way too low on that aspect.

When I am done with the profile and the template customization, I expect to see a POST link or a button to start with. The Posterous had a huge, chunky text area with some bread crumb/default text. Cicked on the text area. Nothing happens! One has to click "Try It" button somewhere down. Then why the hell that misleading text area?

I read on a blog that I can post to multiple platforms using Posterous, that's one reason I gave it a try. I didn't find any such features. May be I couldn't locate the feature. Problem with the usability! Finally I settled with blogger, no qualms.
